Drama series headlines slew of shows using Chicago as a backdrop

The NBC hit drama series, Chicago Fire, airs for its 5th season beginning on Tuesday, October 11th. This return will bring new love interests in Firehouse 51 and will follow the usual roller coaster storyline. As usual, the show will revolve mostly around the lives of Lt. Matt Casey, Lt. Kelly Severide, and the rest of the firehouse. Set in the modern times, Chicago Fire captures the intense and unusual moments that first responders go through every day.

Dick Wolf, the producer of the Law & Order franchise, decided to take on a new show. Chicago Fire was the first show that he produced that had no ties to police drama. However, Chicago P.D. aired in 2014 and was also a hit. With these two shows set in the same city, crossovers became a regular thing. Then, in 2015 Chicago Med was introduced. Chicago Med revolves around the doctors and nurses of Chicago, and helps to give us a better understanding of their daily lives.

Despite the growing number of Chicago-centric shows, Chicago Fire has the highest number of viewers out of all. This is due to the constant flood of unknowingness within the viewer. You never know if a call will be their last, which keeps the viewers on edge throughout the show.

With a hint of romance, the show thrives even more. In my opinion, I love the different settings around downtown Chicago that it takes you to.

Also, look out for the new show, Chicago Justice, which will air in 2017.  In conclusion, the coming of fall will bring a flood of new seasons of all of our favorite shows. Make sure to add Chicago Fire to your list, you will not regret it.
