12-12-12: Last Repetitive Date until 2101

Last Repetitive Date We Will See in Our Lifetime

Paris Morgan, Staff Writer

Many people are big on the dates of the year. As we look at the calendar, this year will be the last year that we will see dates consisting of the same numeral to specify the month, day, and year, until the year 2101!  Many events occur on these “perfect” dates.

12/12/12 occurred a few days ago and there were a variety of things that occurred on this special date. There was a benefit concert on the East coast for Sandy Relief sponsored by the Robin Hood Relief Fund. Artists like Alicia Keys, Kanye West, and The Rolling Stones, jammed on the stage for one purpose, the victims of Hurricane Sandy. A little boy by the name of Kiam Moriya turned 12 on 12/12/12 at 12:12:12. It is also said that 11,000 kids around the world turned 12 on 12/12/12 but it is unlikely that they were born at 12:12:12 so Kiam is considered to be one of the lucky ones. According to a survey by David’s Bridal, 7,500 brides tied the knot on 12/12/12, not bad for a Wednesday.

There have been some events that have occurred on past repetitive years as well. According to FOX news, 11/11/11 resulted in a large number of births. On 11/11/11 in 1911, a tornado struck Janesville, Wisconsin and killed 20 residents. The “Great Blue Norther,” occurred on November 11, 1911, was a cold front that affected the central United States. Many cities had record high temperatures in the afternoon (Missouri 80°F) and record dropping temperatures by nightfall (Missouri 40°F and by midnight it was13°F, a record low.)

The date 10/10/10 at 10:10am or 10:10pm was considered to be a very lucky time. One reason for this comes from the story of George Inmad who had been deaf since birth. On 10/10/1910 at 10:10pm he suddenly was able to hear with no explanation from the doctors. 09/09/09 was the last of the single-digits dates for quite a while – 92 years to be precise. The day itself falls on a Wednesday and both Wednesday & September have 9 letters. Many wedding planners receive a lot of couples that want to get married on dates that repeat.  7/7/07 was considered to be a lucky date thus “lucky number 7,” God created the day in seven days etc. There is no source that states the exact number of couples that married on that date but theknot.com says about 31,000 couples married on that day, in which 4,333 occurred in Las Vegas.
