Fun things to do in Chicago during the holidays!

Carlos Montero, Staff Writer

It is December and although there may be a freezing weather outside, many people will refuse to stay at home doing nothing. Chicago offers plenty of fun experiences to celebrate this time of the year. The top 5 things to do are:

1. Millennium Park Ice Skating – Located on Michigan Avenue between Washington and Madison Streets, the Millennium Park Ice Rink attracts more than 100,000 skaters annually. It is free and open to the public every day of the week. Skate rentals are available. Come skate with friends and show off your skating tricks. The rink is open November 17 – January 8.

2. New Year’s Day Champagne Dinner Cruise (Odyssey) – Enjoy a stunning view of the Chicago skyline while taking a spectacular cruise in the Odyssey Cruise Ship. With an enjoyable dinner, live entertainment, and private seating, it will be like home except you won’t be watching the latest episode of Glee, just the magnificent bright and live skyline. This will run from November 1- December 31.

3. Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light – At the Museum of Science and Industry, 57th Street and Lake Shore Drive, you will find the museum halls crowded with holiday singers and dancers, along with numerous decorated trees. This will run from November 25- December 20.

4. Winter Wonderland – The John Hancock Center, 875 N. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL; will be celebrating 40 years of festivities and everything you loved as a kid is there to enjoy. To brighten someone’s day, there will even be a Santa every weekend from 12-4 pm. Winter Wonderland will open every day from November 1 to December 31.

5. Winter Wonderfest at Navy Pier – Time to leave the couch and have fun ice skating and enjoying the holiday entertainment Navy Pier will bring about. The fest runs December 2, 2011 – January 8, 2012. Tickets start at $15.
