On October 6th, the day of homecoming, both the varsity and junior varsity had a cross country meet at Lisle Community Park. Both JV and Varsity ran a three mile course in 45 F degree weather. According to Stephen Perez, four-year cross country runner at St. Joseph High School, “It was a cold frigid morning, but the cross country team banned together and everyone did their personal best.” Though the St Joes’ cross country team did their best, they didn’t win. The St. Joe’s Chargers competed against Benet Academy, De La Sale Institute, Gordon Tech, and Nazareth Academy.

“Junior Varsity is doing well for this being their first year” Elena Cerino, a four-year cross country runner said. “Varsity is doing excellent because they have increased their endurance from the previous years.” Stephen Perez obtained his personal best on this meet with a time of 21 minutes during the boy’s varsity race. Stephen Perez said, “I have grown more as an individual, a more well rounded as a runner and I have seen drastic improvement in my performance. Mathias Kniesel received his time of 22 minutes and Carlos Carranza with 21 minutes during the varsity boys’ race. Many other cross country runners obtained their best times yet. Perez mentioned his next upcoming meet “We are going to give it our all for a perfect conclusion to a great four years.”
