Girls Hoops Squad takes Willowbrook Title

Lillian Brown, Staff writer

The Varsity girls basketball team has started another year, but with a spin on it.

This year, the team has a variety of new players and a new head coach. Andrew Winston who was last year’s Junior Varsity Girl’s Coach, has now been promoted to Head Varsity Coach.

When asked how he thought this year’s season will look, he said he has confidence that the season will be great, and he expects a lot out of the girls because he sees the potential of how great they can become.

The team has a solid mixture youth and experience with three seniors (Gabby Foster, Emilie Liotine, Aniyah Gray), four juniors, three sophomores, and two freshmen, which is a great assortment of talent.

This season has already started off with the girl’s team winning the Willowbrook Thanksgiving Tournament and the junior varsity coming in second place.

There are many more teams to play against, more challenges and obstacles to overcome and, hopefully, many more trophies to win. The team this year has the ability to go as far as they want to. Good luck, girls.
