High hopes for Boys Basketball team this year

Basketball season is here! There are high expectations for this year’s varsity basketball team.

The team has started off to a superb start with a 3-0 record at the annual St. Charles East Thanksgiving tournament, and won five of their first six games overall.

The Chargers commanded the tournament as they became winners of the tournament once again for the second straight year. Jordan Ash, Glynn Watson and Nick Rakocevic received all-tournament mentions.

Coach Gene Pingatore has major hopes for this year’s team.

When asked about his plan for the upcoming season, he simply said “To win the conference and hopefully make it down state.”

Pingatore has big-name players who can help make his hopes a reality.

Watson (who has committed to Nebraska), Rakocevic, Ash (who has committed to Northwestern), Lavon Thomas and Joffrey Brown are his key players to have a successful season this year.

The team’s key opponents this year to beat are Fenwick, Hales, St. Rita and of course every other game played. The Chargers also played a game against nationally ranked Redondo Union at UIC Pavilion Center.
