Soccer Team looking for strong finish to a solid season

Riding on the heels of the boys’ soccer team’s second place finish at the state tournament, the girls’ varsity soccer team has set some pretty lofty goals for itself for this spring.
“The goal this year is to win regionals again. It’s my last year and to be able to lead the girls

to that again will just be amazing,” senior forward Maddy Torres noted about the possibility of winning back-to-back regional championships.

“An individual goal I have for myself is to constantly better myself and my team,” Maddy added about her personal goals.
Currently,  the Chargers Varsity squad is 7-1 with one more game before they start their quest for the regional championship on Tuesday, May 12.

A little background about Torres is that she has been playing soccer since  3rd grade through her school and recreational leagues. In 7th grade, Maddy joined a club team and she eventually hopes after she graduates to  join an adult league.

Fellow senior Valery Oyoque adds “It’s been amazing watching our team grow over my 4 years. We’ve come a long way since freshman year and we’ve all become more skilled. The best part of

playing soccer for St.Joe’s was winning regionals last year and hopefully again this year!”

The Chargers begin their quest for that regional championship on May 12 at 4:30 at Westmont High School.
