The wrestling team has gotten off to a bit of a rocky start this year. Due to a lack of numbers, it’s been hard to get enough students out recently to field a full team. This year, though, got a bit tougher with a coaching change that occurred early on in the season.
Junior Mariana Barriga, a female member of the wrestling team, had this to say about the state of the program.
“I was really excited for this season just to find out we barely have a program to participate in,” Barriga said. “Out of the two years I have been wrestling, this year has been the most different because of all the sudden changes.”
Even with all that has been going on, Mariana still has a good feeling about this year’s team.
“I do feel good about this season, I feel like this season we have more kids,” she said. “I think what we can improve this year is the difference between years and experience and how much effort each and everyone puts in it.”
Danny Kalish is a senior member of the team who has been in the wrestling program all four years. He had a lot to say about this years wrestling team.
“I feel that the wrestling this year is going to be difficult,” he said. “I think it is going to be difficult because we have very few people and a coaching change, and we also only have four matches.”
