Settling for 3rd; good season overall for Lady Chargers Volleyball

The Lady Chargers finished in 3rd place once again for the second year in a row. The game that put us into 3rd place was against Gordon Tech. The Lady Chargers had to take it to three games.

For the seven senior on the varsity team they found it emotional that they didn’t come in first. They had a shot to finally bring the 1st place title to the school but it was something that they couldn’t achieve.  One loss put them into the 3rd place spot. This one loss was against Queen of Peace.  This was not a minor hiccup, it was a fatal one that cost the Lady Chargers their 1st place that they had worked so hard to get.

Finishing in 3rd put us into the regional tournament on Monday the 22nd of November. The regional games started at 6:30 at Immaculate Conception in Elmhurst. The game was against Montini and your St. Joseph Chargers. Montini pulled out with the win but the Lady Chargers put up quite a fight against the Montini Broncos. The first game score was 25:11 and the second game was 25:7. The game started off with Montini serving and the Chargers playing defense.  In this game defense was lacking and really cost us the game.

“We were not playing at our best and we should have been able to keep up with them,” said the two year varsity Head Coach, Coach Hernandez. The Chargers did a better job in the first half then they did in the second half.  They needed to fight and what they brought to the table was no match for what Montini had.
