Boys’ basketball team looking for bounce back year

The St. Joseph boys’ basketball team got off to a bit of a rocky start this year, going 1-3 at the St. Charles Thanksgiving Tournament.

However, a bit of home cooking got the Chargers back on track as a blowout win over St. Francis de Sales on Nov. 30 gave the Chargers a win in their home opener.

Led by players like Antonio Hardaway, Reggie Strong, John Robinson and Maliq Anderson are set to lead the Chargers this year, with bench players like Demeko Nutall, Naqi Shaheed-Owens, Markus Becton and Brandon Malone ready to step up and help where needed.

After winning the state championship in 2015 and taking fourth place in 2016, the Chargers have failed to get out of the regionals the last two years while playing up a class due to their recent success.

The Chargers will compete once again in the always-tough Chicago Catholic League and will battle teams like Fenwick and Loyola, among others, for conference supremacy.
